Llandudno – Snowdon and Plas Newydd
Single Supplement: £30.00
Staying at the Queen’s Hotel
The Victorians and Edwardians loved to visit Llandudno – they called it the Queen of the Welsh resorts and graced it with some of the most elegant seaside architecture in Britain. You can delve further into the past at the 4000 year old copper mine or the medieval castle at Conwy. Or just enjoy the vintage charm of the Great Orme Tramway, Punch and Judy on the prom and a Victorian style afternoon tea. Llandudno has great bone structure, a magnificent position between Snowdonia and the Great Orme and grand Victorian architecture. Plus, it’s Bill Bryson’s favourite seaside town. Anglesey is up the road, just off the mainland’s northwest coast. The island is accessed by the 19th century Menai Suspension Bridge and the Britannia Bridge, rebuilt in the 20th Century. In the medieval town of Beaumaris, 13th Century Beaumaris Castle has concentric fortifications and a moat. Beaumaris Goal has Victorian punishment cells and an original tread wheel. The Cambrian coastline and mountains, combined with glorious scenery, tales of Lore and Legend are the recipe for a great tour.
