Scotland – Oban, The Isle of Mull and Iona

Staying at the Columba Hotel, Oban
Our summer holiday to Scotland takes us to Oban, where we can experience wonderful scenery and glorious
sunsets. We also include the Islands of Mull and Iona with entrance to Iona Abbey together with a tour and
tasting at the Oban distillery. Our hotel, The Columba is centrally situated on the quayside having
commanding views over the bay. It is a comfortable hotel with friendly staff and good cuisine.

Our Itinerary
DAY 1 After your doorstep pick up, we join our luxury coach and travel north into Scotland with refreshment
stops travelling through wonderful scenery to the Columba Hotel in Oban for dinner and a stay of 4 nights.
DAY 2 Free day in Oban to explore this popular resort, there’s lots to see. Maybe walk the long flat
promenade or visit the town. It is also the main ferry port for the Outer Hebrides where you see ships
departing and arriving the terminal.
DAY 3 We start the day with a morning tour over the Atlantic Bridge to Easdale on the Isle of Seil. Here we
pause for a while before returning to Oban. Later in the afternoon we include an interesting visit to the Oban
distillery. Here we will be shown how their products are made before tasting for ourselves.
DAY 4 After breakfast a special day starts by
joining our coach for a short journey to the
port and then board the ferry for a 1 hour
crossing to Craignure on the Isle of Mull. We
then drive south to Fionnphort and board the
foot passenger ferry to Iona. The island is just
3 miles long and 1 ½ miles wide, but it is
where in a.d 563, St Columba landed and
started the christianization of Scotland. Iona
Abbey is dedicated to him, and is where we
have an included visit. After this we drive to
the ferry for the return sail to Oban and to our
hotel for dinner and the evening.
DAY 5 After breakfast we bid farewell to our
hotel and drive via Inveraray, the rest and be
thankful and Loch Lomond over the border
into England to our door-to-door service to
your local areas.
