Staying at the Merrion Hotel, Llandudno
Llandudno is still a big favourite with everyone, having a wide flat promenade and easy access to Mostyn Street- the main shopping area. Our hotel, The Merrion has wonderful views over Llandudno Bay being situated on the sea front. We have used this hotel for several years and has always proved a popular location for our customers.
Our Itinerary
Day 1 – Once your door-to-door service has brought you to the coach we travel directly to Llandudno and to the extravaganza. The event has been established for 39 years. If you haven’t been yet you are missing out! The Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza takes place on the first May bank holiday weekend each year. It takes over the main streets of Llandudno for the full three days, bringing vintage attractions, entertainment and fun fair. This fantastic event is free to attend and has many free aspects. We later check into our hotel.
Day 2 – A full day today as we drive to the Isle of Anglesey. We call at Llanfair.P.G. first to peruse and purchase morning coffee, then tour the island and later call at the lovely old resort of Beaumaris with it’s ancient castle before continuing to our hotel for relaxation and dinner.
Day 3 – A full day today. We travel to the busy harbour town of Porthmadog and have time to explore before we make our way to the Italian village of Portmeirion made famous by the TV series “The Prisoner” for an included visit.
Day 4 – Today we have a full day as we have a country run to Dollgellau to peruse. Remember to look up while you wander! You’re likely to see high up doors and pulley systems that are remnants of the town’s successful textile industry. Look out particularly for the small round windows at the top of buildings – these were said to be hidden meeting houses for the Quakers. This afternoon we spend in the award-winning beach town of Barmouth. Many of us love the seaside atmosphere and Barmouth doesn’t disappoint. It’s a family-friendly beach with golden sands, stretching for miles around the sweeping bay. This means it doesn’t get too crowded. Awarded a Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety, the waters are perfect for swimming.
Nearby, the mile-long promenade is lined with stalls selling ice cream and candy floss, and there’re plenty of cafes too if all that excitement makes you want to stop for a bite to eat. Running along the length of the promenade, the land train is a leisurely way to enjoy the seafront.
Day 5 – A free morning to relax and explore more of Llandudno before we depart and visit St Margaret’s church (Marble Church), Lady Margaret Willoughby de Broke built the church in memory of her husband. The church took 4 years to build from1856-1860 and has various marbles from around the world. After a suitable visit, we travel direct to our home areas where your door-to-door service will be waiting to take you back to your homes.
