Hertfordshire – De Havilland Aviation and Knebworth House

Join us on this four-day tour of discovery through Hertfordshire to discover more of this scenic county’s heritage, spectacular stately homes and famous De Havilland Aircraft Museum.  Used as a magnificent filming location for popular period films and dramas, Knebworth House is the real star of the tour.  The stylish art deco Comet Hotel named after the iconic De Havilland Comet aircraft is the perfect base for this tour. 

Our Itinerary

Day 1- Your door-to-door service will pick you up from your doorstep and take you to our holiday coach.  Once on board we travel south to Hatfield and our hotel for the next 3 nights.  Suitable comfort stops will be made on the way.

Day 2- A full day today.  We depart after breakfast, to the De Havilland Aircraft Museum for a 2-hour guided tour with included light refreshments.  By getting up close to the planes, we will learn more about their history and the incredible contribution that De Havilland made to British aviation for over 80 years.  Afterwards we have free time to explore St Albans known for its impressive cathedral and Verulamium Museum on the site of a major Roman City.

Day 3- A full day again today.  This morning, we visit Knebworth House having 500 years of history and treasures on a guided tour of this grade II listed stately home with its romantic façade of turrets, domes and gargoyles.  Home to generations of the Lytton family, Knebworth’s stories and precious heirlooms reflect the family’s contribution to literature, politics and foreign service.  This afternoon we have free time in the village of Welwyn, famous for the remain of well-preserved Roman Baths.

Day 4- Sadly, we have to say farewell today.  We retrace our steps home to your door-to-door service which will be waiting for you to take you back to your doorsteps.  Suitable comfort stops will be made on route.
