Holland – The Glorious Bulbfields & Keukenhof Park

Staying at the 4 star Van-Der-Valk Hotel, Volendam

Our Bulbfields holiday this year includes old Dutch villages as well as the magnificent Keukenhof Flower Park.  We stay at the impressive 4 Star Van Der Valk Hotel which has just undergone a newly full refurbishment.  All rooms are in the “luxury category” with full facilities including TV, telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray and either have a terrace or balcony.  It has a stylish bar and restaurant area and is pleasantly situated beside a waterway, about 3km from the centre if Volendam.

Our Itinerary

DAY 1 – After our doorstep service we join our luxury coach and travel to York for a short stay before continuing to the Port of Hull for our overnight crossing to Rotterdam with P&O North Sea Ferries in outside cabins with side-by-side beds and on-board entertainment.

DAY 2 – After embarkation we join our luxury coach and drive north through Holland to Marken, which is a fishing village situated on the side of the Ijsselmeer.  It is close to Monnickendam, a small old Dutch village with interesting church and houses.  We later visit a clog and cheese maker where you will be shown how the traditional and modern methods of making wooden clogs are carried out and be able to sample the various dutch cheeses.  We then continue to our luxury Hotel with plenty of time to settle in before evening dinner.

DAY 3 – Our morning begins with a leisurely hot & cold buffet breakfast before joining our luxury coach for the short journey to the centre of Volendam.  Here you will find beautifully kept houses with people wearing traditional Dutch costume, also small shops selling a variety of interesting items and of course “De Coo” where you could purchase something to eat or drink.  After ample time, we then drive from the resort through Edam, known for cheesemaking to the historic town of Enkhuizen, which dates back to 1283.  There are canals, an inland Harbour, Castle with drawbridge, Museums and Ancient Houses, all a short walk from the coach park.  After plenty of time here we return to our hotel for relaxation before dinner.

DAY 4 – After another leisurely breakfast we leave our hotel and drive the Bulbfield route to Keukenhof Park for an included visit.  This, the highlight of our holiday can only be described as the most colourful display of bulb flowers in Europe where more than 7 million bulbs covering 32 hectares are planted every year.  After our visit we drive to Rotterdam for our overnight crossing to England with similar accommodation and entertainment as our outward crossing.

DAY 5 – After our arrival in Hull we clear customs and join our luxury coach for the journey back to your home areas and door to door service.
