Downton Abbey Royal Berkshire & Oxford

‘Downton Abbey’ which is filmed at Highclere Castle in Hampshire is a current popular television series enjoyed by many.  Hampton Court home of ‘The Tudors’ was Henry 8th’s home which recently featured on TV, which are included visits we make on this holiday.  Our hotel is the four star Basingstoke Country hotel ideally situated, surrounding by thatched villages and pleasant countryside.

Highclere Castle a country house in the Jacobethan style, with a park designed by Capability Brown.  It is the country seat of the Earl of Carnarvon.

Hampton Court Palace in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, has not been inhabited by the British Royal Family since the 18th Century.  It was originally built for Cardinal Wolsey, but when Henry needed a grand palace for himself and Anne Boleyn, it was passed to the King, who enlarged it.
