Staying at the 4* Elcot Hotel

A diverse holiday from the historic seaport of Portsmouth, home of the ‘Mary Rose’ and Nelsons flag ship ‘Victory’ to the ancient city of  Winchester with its cathedral and Great Hall where the ‘Round table’ can be found to the cathedral city of Salisbury having the highest spire in England. All this surrounded by pleasant countryside and villages steeped in history.

  • Day 1 - After our door to door pick up we join our coach and travel South with refreshment stops by passing Oxford to the four star Elcot Hotel situated in the Kennet Valley, for dinner and stay of four nights. This stately 18th century hotel; was once the home of the poet Percy Shelley.
  • Day 2 - A historic day today where we take you to Portsmouth. Here we have an included visit to the ancient docklands, where you will find The Mary Rose, The Victory and various other attractions including a boat museum showing how vessels are constructed. Something a little different away from the dockyard is the Emirates Spinnaker Tower at a height of over 170 metres (560ft) having views over the Solent to the Isle of Wight.
  • Day 3 - A leisurely full day today. First we travel to the pretty old village of Stockbridge situated on the river Test for a short stay before continuing to Winchester. We drop you off close to King Alfred's statue and the Cathedral which dates back to 1079 and is one of the largest in Europe. It is also the burial place of Jane Austen and William Rufus and the seat of the Bishop of Winchester. Further up the town you will find the Great Hall, garden and wall mounted round table. There will be plenty of time here before we return to our hotel.
  • Day 4 - Another full day but easy going. Firstly, we drive to Marlborough for a short stop before continuing through Devizes and over Salisbury plain to the city of Salisbury. Weekly markets are held here on the square close to the Cathedral which has the highest spire in Britain at 404ft high. It was started in 1220 on foundations of just 4 feet thick and it took a total of 38 years to complete. The compact shopping centre situated by a small river has a pathway allowing easy access to the centre. After our visit we return directly back to our hotel.
  • Day 5 - After breakfast we depart our hotel and travel the old route to Stratford on Avon for a stop before continuing North to our door to door service to your home.
