Germany – The Mosel Valley

Our first overseas tour of the year takes us to the Mosel valley a truly beautiful area of Germany, where there are hundreds of acres of vineyards sloping down to the river. On this holiday we include a river sail as well as visiting Trier where time will be given to explore the oldest city in Germany situated on the banks on the Mosel river. Our itinerary is as follows.

Our Itinerary

DAY 1 Morning departure to Hull for our overnight crossing to Rotterdam in low berth cabins with facilities, entertainment on-board ship.

DAY 2 On arrival in Rotterdam we drive through Holland and over the border into Germany to the superb Belle Vue hotel Boppard for a stay of four nights, with a welcome drink on arrival.

DAY 3 Situated up stream on the Mosel is Trier the oldest city in Germany still retaining it’s Roman influence. Here we have a full day visit with ample time to explore the cities ancient architecture, narrow streets and cafes.

DAY 4 A leisurely half day tour to Koblenz where the Mosel flows into the Rhine at Deutsches Eck corner, this symbolising unity within Germany, or if you prefer, a short walk will take you into the city centre.

DAY 5 Today we have a superb tour over the Hunsruck plateau to the beautiful old town of Berne Kastel, situated in the heart of the Mosel Valley where wine would flow from the fountain to celebrate the harvest season. We then continue through Traben-Trabach and Zell to Cochem where you can explore the town with its castle high above before driving back to our hotel.

DAY 6 Late morning departure from our hotel through Germany back into Holland with refreshment stops before arriving at Rotterdam for our overnight sailing. Low berth cabins with facilities once again on-board.

DAY 7 On arrival in Hull we clear customs and re-join our coach for the journey to our home areas arriving early to mid afternoon.
